Edward Aaron Stuber, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, fought hard but lost his courageous battle to cancer on Thursday, April 12, 2007, at the age of 71.

He was born in Climax, Kansas the son of Mike and Alice (Moore) Stuber. He was raised in Climax, until his junior year in high school when his parents and eleven brothers and sisters, transferred to Eureka High School in 1954. He attended college a short time before he joined the military, operating tanks for the Army. He was given an honorable discharge, and it was then that he began his lifelong career working in the oilfield, employed first by Halliburton in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Ed married Joan Wikinson in 1958, and had three children. While working for Halliburton, Ed moved to Newcastle, Wyoming. In 1965, the family moved to Gillette, Wyoming.

On April 2, 1976, Ed married Madelyn Jones. In 1977, he purchased Sun Cementing, which he owned and operated until his death, with his son, Eddie. He was also involved in numerous other business ventures in the Gillette area. Ed was dedicated to spending time with his wife Madelyn, and his children and grandchildren at their home in Pine Haven. He was a very respectable, hard-working, and determined business man. His contribution to the community, its citizens, and the lives he touched is so appreciated and will be remembered for a long time to come. His strength, loyalty, and kindness, will serve as an inspiration to all who knew him. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers: Bill, Fred, Terry, and Bob.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 31 years, Madelyn of Gillette, Wyoming; one son, Edward Jr., and his wife, Donna of Gillette, Wyoming; two daughters, Kathy Fehlmann, and her husband, Ralph of Livingston, Montana; and Jolita Stuber-Schleining, and her husband, Jeff Schleining of Billings, Montana; one stepson, Gary Rhodd of Gillette, Wyoming; twelve grandchildren: Jessica, Stephanie, and Alan Stuber; Brandon, and Bridger Rosendahl; Brad and Tiffani Fehlmann; Katelyn Stuber and Kelly Schleining; and Christopher, Matthew, and Faith Ann Rhodd; one great-grandson, Myles Fehlmann; three brothers, Virgil Stuber, Jr. of Eureka, Kansas; Jack Stuber of Eureka, Kansas; and Roger Stuber of Concordia, Kansas; four sisters, Barb Butler of Eureka, Kansas; Sherry Williams of Eureka, Kansas; Peggy Hawthorne of Eureka, Kansas; and Julie Clopton of Olathe, Kansas; eight nephews; and seventeen nieces.

A memorial service was held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the New Life Wesleyan Church with Pastors Wes Smith and Orvil Holden officiating with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #42. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home of Gillette was entrusted with the arrangements.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka with Mr. Jayme A. Koup of Koup Family Funeral Home officiating.

A memorial has been established in Ed’s name to the Heptner Oncology Center. Deepest gratitude goes out to this organization for their efforts, support, care, and research.
