Earl Lloyd Umholtz, formerly of Fall River, died on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 84.
He was born in Newton, Kansas, the son of Harry Samuel and Louise Angelina (Deschner) Umholtz. He was raised in Yates Center and graduated from local schools.
On July 5, 1956, Earl was united in marriage to Cathy Lea Burkhart in Newton. They made their home in Hesston. To this union, four children were born. The family lived in Yates Center, Miami, Oklahoma, and Udall, Kansas, where Earl and Cathy owned and operated a plumbing business for thirty years. They retired to Fall River in the late 90’s.
He was a member of the Udall First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Leanne and husband, Michael Berry of Derby; Bruce and wife, Michelle Umholtz of Udall; Lynn and wife, Brenda Umholtz of Wichita; Craig and wife, Tina Umholtz of Burden; seven grandchildren: Kimberly Miller, Cy Umholtz, Bradly Berry, Lindsy Umholtz, Kayla Lawhon, Tyler Davis, and Shane Davis; eleven great-grandchildren: Acen Suffron, Avaree Suffron, Peyton Miller, Cole Miller, Alex Miller, Kyle Miller, Abby Davis, Annisten Davis, Parker Davis, Tessa Davis, and Julien Lawhon; and three sisters, Wilma Strawder of Inman, Norma Jean Nebergall of Newton, and Dorothy Nickel of Anthony. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cathy; brothers, Harold Umholtz, Ross Umholtz, and John Umholtz; and one sister, Alice Grisier.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Udall Cemetery, Udall with Pastor Blake Orr of the First Baptist Church of Winfield officiating. Cremation has been effected.
