Earl Clifford Sutter, of Eureka, died at Medicalodge of Eureka on August 4, 2004, at the age of 87.
He was born in Kieley, Kansas on April 2, 1917, the son of Theodore and Lula (Harris) Sutter. Earl was raised in El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School. After his schooling he worked at the El Dorado Ford Garage before entering the United States Army Air force and serving his country during World War II. After his discharge he returned to work at the Ford Garage.
In 1948, Earl was united in marriage to Bertha Howard in Arkansas. They made their home in El Dorado. He retired from the Ford Garage in 1979. Bertha preceded him in death in October 1981.
On January 14, 1984 he was united in marriage to Ida Porter-Powell in Eureka. They made their home in El Dorado until June 1993, when they moved to Eureka.
Earl was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of El Dorado and attended the Bible Baptist Church. He and Ida were also members of the Golden Age Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ida, of the home, three sons, Jack Sutter of Rosalia, Raymond Sutter of Wichita, and William Sutter of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, one step-son, Ronald Powell of Eureka, two step-daughters, Patricia Richey and Karen Richey both of Wichita, twelve grandchildren, fifteen step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, twelve step-great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bertha, step-daughter, Frances Powell, and three sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 11, 2004, at the Bible Baptist Church in Eureka, with Reverend Lloyd Stewart officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in his name to the Greenwood County Home Health Care Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of the Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045, which was in charge of funeral arrangements.
