Dorthy Loretta Vinson, of Eureka, died on Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 78.
She was born on April 6, 1931, in Greenwood County, the daughter of Harold and Hazel (Nelson) Butler. She was raised in Eureka and graduated from Tonovay High School. After her schooling she worked as a bookkeeper and cashier as J.C. Penney’s in Eureka. On July 29, 1950, Dorthy was united in marriage to Bob Lee Vinson. They made their home in Eureka. In addition to being a homemaker, Dorthy did the bookkeeping for Bob’s construction business.
Dorthy is survived by her husband, Bob of the home; four sons, Randy Vinson of Eureka; Rod Vinson of Eureka; Tom Vinson of Eureka; and Scott Vinson of Wichita; one daughter, Pam Herlien of Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; five brothers, Glen Butler of Eureka; Albert Butler of Eureka; Jack Butler of Waynesville, Missouri; Steven Butler of Humboldt; and Richard Butler of Augusta; and two sisters, Wanda Frakes of Eureka; and Dixie Holm of Hawaii. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother.
Memorial services and inurnment will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 11, 2009, at Greenwood Cemetery, in Eureka, with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating.
