Dorothy Louise Gutman of Eureka, died on April 30, 2011 at Greenwood County Hospital at the age of 71.
Dorothy was born on January 10, 1940 in Virgil, Kansas the daughter of James Alonzo and Opal Aleta (Megli) Griffith. She was raised in the Greenwood County area graduating from Tonovay High School. In 1959 she moved to California working at Sony as an inspector before moving into the health care field. In 1999 she moved back to Eureka.
In February 1959 she married Vernard Jones, later this marriage ended in divorce. On April 25, 2001 she married Jimmie Gutman in El Dorado, Kansas.
She attended the Neal United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmie of the home; children, Gerald Jones of Lakewood, California; LaVonna Jennings of Eureka; Michael Jones of Seymour, Missouri; and Valerie Hancock of Jackson, California; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, James Griffith of Everett, Washington; Leo George Griffith of North Newton; Robert Griffith of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and Richard Griffith of Berryton; sisters, Hazel Herold of Neal; Ruby Herman of Galloway, New Jersey; Sharon Beeman of Hamilton; and Mary Ann Thornton of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 2, 2011 at Neal Cemetery with Pastor Mark Demas of the Neal United Methodist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Neal United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
