Dorothy “Darlene” Delpine of Eureka, died on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at her home near Eureka, at the age of 78.
She was born on April 21, 1944, in Greenwood County, the daughter of Vernon Dale and Virginia Lea (Becker) Rice. She was raised in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School. In 1963, Darlene was united in marriage to Virgil Ward. They made their home in Neal. To this union, one son was born. This marriage later ended in divorce.
Darlene was a supervisor at sewing factories in Manhattan, Eureka, and Yates Center. She retired in the late 80s. She was a past member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
On June 14, 1982, Darlene was united in marriage to Victor Cooley “Vic” Delpine in Eureka. They made their home near Eureka. He preceded her in death on March 11, 2023.
Darlene is survived by her son, Nick and wife, Brenda Ward of Neal; two grandchildren, Tara Hughes and Ryan and wife, Wendy Hughes; three great-grandchildren: Karlie, Hagen, and Kaden; and five siblings: Sonny and wife, Gloria Rice of Sealy, Texas; Carolyn and husband, Terry Sanborn of Ketchum, Oklahoma; Ronnie and wife, Theresa of Godley, Texas; Mike Rice of Godley, Texas; and Raymond and wife, Lisa Rice of Lipan, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and five siblings: Judy McKenzie; Sharon Lazzers; Martha Town; Donna Rice; and Lee Roy Rice.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 10, 2023, at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Father Nicholaus Jurgensmeyer of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Cremation has been effected. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.
