Dorothy Mae Ball, of Eureka, died at the Greenwood County Hospital on Saturday, November 8, 2003, at the age of 75.
She was born on a farm west of Reece on March 3, 1928, the daughter of John H. and Mary E. (Taylor) Samuels. She was raised in the Eureka area and attended Greenwood County schools.
On January 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Fred Buster in Eureka. To this union two sons were born. The marriage later ended in divorce.
On December 23, 1978, Dorothy was married to Fred Ball in Denver, Colorado. They made their home in Eureka where Dorothy worked as a Nurse’s Aid at Prairie Hills Nursing Home and Medicalodge.
She was a member of the Christian and Congregational Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Fred, of the home, two sons, Fred L. Buster of Kansas City, Missouri and Steve Buster of Emporia, three grandchildren, and four sisters, Elwanda Torrance of Eureka, Sharon Lykins of El Dorado, Janice Peterson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mary Lou Davis of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 13, 2003, at the Koup Family Funeral Home with Reverend Doctor Gilbert Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name to the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
