Doris Marie Winn, died at her residence in Eureka on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the age of 68.
She was born in Yates Center, Kansas on December 7, 1937, the daughter of Kenneth Earl and Eileen Lenore (Manson) Maley. She was raised in Yates Center and attended school there.
On May 27, 1952, she was united in marriage to Bert Watts. To this union two children were born. On June 5, 1960, Doris was united in marriage to Jay Whitaker. To this union three children were born. On November 12, 1973, she was united in marriage to David Winn. To this union one child was born.
Doris traveled throughout the United States, but lived in Greenwood County most of her life, settling in Eureka in 1996. She worked as a Nurse and an Emergency Medical Technician as well as being a homemaker and serving as a Girl Scout Leader.
She is survived by her companion and friend, David Winn, one son, Eugene Watts of Quincy, four daughters, Twyla Damron of Quincy, Troy Shaw and Amanda Gulick of Eureka, and Tonya Whitaker, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother, Delbert Maley of Emporia, and one sister Donna Schlotterbeck of Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Thomas Whitaker, and two brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 24, 2006, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Boles of Moline officiating. A private inurnment will follow at a later date.
A memorial has been established in her name to Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045.
