It is with a poignant blend of sadness and gratitude that we remember Donna Lee Hoffman, who passed away on December 13, 2024, at the age of 90 at the Rolling Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita.
A beloved figure whose spirit touched the lives of many, Donna’s journey began on August 27, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas, where she was born to Jack Ellis and Cora Madelyn (Wilson) Howard.
Raised in Wichita, Donna was a proud graduate of East High School’s Class of 1952. She embarked on a new chapter in her life when she married Jack Lee Deal, bringing into the world four cherished children, who were the heart and joy of her life. Although this marriage came to an end, Donna's commitment to her family remained unwavering.
Her career as a Nurse Assistant at St. Francis Hospital showcased her deep compassion and dedication to caring for others, a trait that defined her character. She later worked in the aircraft industry. In 1980, seeking new horizons, Donna moved to the tranquil landscapes of Toronto, KS, where she was able to raise her granddaughter. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and hiking by the lake. In 1999, she was able to retire. In 2021, the call of family brought her back to Wichita, where she could be closer to her daughter, continuing to nurture those precious familial bonds.
Donna’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who remain, including her son, Jack Lee Deal, and wife, Sharon of Shell Knob, Missouri, and her daughter Lee Ann, and husband, Randall Brown, who carry forward Donna’s love and warmth. She is also remembered by her grandchildren: Amanda Deal of Wichita, KS; Reannon Miller of Mt Hope, KS; and Jameson and Bradlee Brown, both of Wichita, whose lives she enriched with her love and guidance. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, two beloved children, Kris Lee Deal and Robin Lee Deal, as well as her siblings, Jack Michael Howard and Barbara Ann Bennett, and grandson Terren Brown. Her departure leaves a void that will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and there are currently no services planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Contributions can be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, PO Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, who are lovingly overseeing the arrangements.
Condolences may be left for the family online, at koupfunerals.com.
Though she may have departed from this world, Donna Lee Hoffman's spirit and legacy will forever be celebrated in the stories we share, the love we remember, and the warmth she imparted to all who knew her.
