Donald Keith Garrison, of Eureka, died on Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 81.
He was born on December 22, 1921, in Wichita, the son of Harry Guy and Mabel Elizabeth (Foley) Garrison. He was raised in the Beaumont area and attended Beaumont elementary school. He attended high school in El Dorado, and in Quincy. He entered the United States Army during World War II and served his country with honor and dignity. After his discharge, he moved to Wichita, and worked for Wichita Wire Products.
On September 5, 1944, Donald was united in marriage to Helen Marie Ralston, and the couple made their home in Wichita. Donald retired from the wire company in 1984 and the family moved to Eureka.
He attended Christ Lutheran Church of Eureka and was a lifetime member of VFW Post #2712.
Donald is survived by two sons, Michael Garrison of Kechi, and Timothy Garrison of Wichita; one brother, Jim Garrison of Eureka; two sisters, Laura Shepherd of Eufaula, Oklahoma, and Cleona Thornton of Wilberton, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, and one step-brother.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, with Reverend Diana Hill of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at Resthaven Cemetery in Wichita.
A memorial has been established in his name with the VFW Post #2712. Contributions may be sent in care of the Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595 Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
