Deloris Jean “Sally” Osger, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Toronto, died on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at the age of 84.

She was born on July 18, 1925, in Iola, the daughter of Fred and Gladys Osger. Sally started teaching at the age of 18, in a one room school in Labette County, and continued teaching in southeastern Kansas for the next 47 years, with her final years spent in Eureka. She continued with her own education, achieving her Masters Degree in Education at Emporia State University. Teaching was her passion in life, and she took great pride in the accomplishments of her students. She was selected as a Kansas Master Teacher.

She loved history, and after retiring from teaching, loved volunteering at the Greenwood County Historical Society.

She is survived by her sister, and brother0in-law, Laura and Gordon Ferguson, of Phoenix, Arizona; two nieces; one nephew; and their children and grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 18, 2009 at Toronto Cemetery with Pastor Karen Jesseph of the United Methodist Church of Toronto officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the United Methodist Church of Toronto or to the Greenwood County Historical Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
