Delia E. Flockhart of Eureka, died on October 26, 2004, at Medicalodge in Eureka at the age of 86.
She was born on July 23, 1918, in Dodge, North Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Hilda (Johnson) Gustafson. She was raised in North Dakota, and graduated from Dodge High School. After graduation, Delia attended Drake University receiving her teaching degree in 1940. She taught in Iowa and Kansas, teaching Special Education in Emporia for three years. She retired from teaching in 1995. She also owned two businesses the Snack Shop in Madison and the Highway Café in Hamilton.
She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Brewer of Virgil, Kansas. She will be missed and loved by five grandchildren, Kevin and Diana Kelley of Eureka, Wayne and Dee Dee (Motte) Thompson of Florence, South Carolina, Jodie (Motte) Fox of Holton, James and Shannon (Kelley) Reynolds of Eureka, and Robin Brewer of Eureka; and eighteen great-grandchildren, Tara Barnaby, Amber and Joshua Kelley, Nathan, Trevor, La-Tisha, and Allyson Smalley, Cory and Tyler Thompson, Brittany, Gunner, and Adam McKenna, Amanda, Jacob, and Erika Reynolds, and Hailey and Rosemary Brewer. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Andrew Brewer, one great grandson, Hunter Brewer, one great granddaughter, Tasha Reynolds, two brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, November 4, 2004, at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Cremation has been effected.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in her name to the Flockhart scholarship fund for teachers.
