Daryl Lynn Evenson died Friday, October 2, 2015, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 80.

He was born in Eureka, Kansas, on May 31, 1935, the son of Charlie A. and Mardell (Hawthorne) Evenson. He was raised in the Burkett and Eureka areas, and graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1953. He worked in the construction business and was a lifelong cattleman.
On June 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary Alice Jones in Eureka. They made their home in Eureka. In 1968 he was hired as the foreman of Corbin Ranch where he stayed for 10 years. He had a cow\calf operation until 1980, after which he did summer pasturing through 2015 when he helped load his last pot.

Mary Alice preceded him in death March 4, 2011. He was a member of the American Angus Association. He is survived by two daughters, Marilynn Evenson of Coffeyville; and Sharyl and husband, Joel Edmondson of Eureka; two granddaughters, Holly and Paige; one great grandson, Wacey; and two brothers, Charles S. Evenson of Wichita; and Jerry Evenson of El Dorado.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Greenwood County Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
