Clyde Vernon Roberts, of Eureka, died at Medicalodge of Eureka on Thursday, April 15, 2004, at the age of 79.
He was born in Colony, Kansas on December 14, 1924, the son of Earl Leroy and Kitty Parker (Cullar) Roberts. He was raised in Colony and Hutchinson and attended Hutchinson schools.
On June 12, 1943, he was united in marriage to Juanita Natalie Bean in Hutchinson. After their marriage they moved to California and Washington State for a short time before moving back to Hutchinson. The family moved to Wichita in 1951, and then to Rose Hill in 1955, where they purchased the Dairy Queen and the Hill Topper Carry Out. In 1961, they moved back to Wichita and in 1967, to Andover. While in Andover they started a trailer park. In 1970, the family moved to Eureka where they purchased the Fall River Bait House and in 1974, they began a career in hog farming. Juanita preceded him in death on March 21, 2004.
Clyde is survived by two daughters, Cecelia Marshall of Latham and Phyllis Sherman of Eureka, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Aldthe Lowe of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother.
Graveside services and inurnment will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 19, 2004, at Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating.
