Claudine “Sis” Harber, of Neal, died on Sunday, August 29, 2004, at Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 66.
She was born on February 20, 1938, in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Clare and Edna (Nichols) Savage. She was raised in the Quincy area and graduated from Quincy High School.
On April 2, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Harber in Eureka. They made their home in Neal. Sis was a homemaker until all her children were raised at which point she began driving a school bus and later worked in sewing plants in Iola, Yates Center, and Eureka.
She was a member of the Neal United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Toronto Chapter.
Sis is survived by her husband, Bob; four daughters, Cindy Boone of Eureka, Tammy White of Arkansas City, Connie Lawrence of Burlington, and Tonya Nix of Blue Jacket, Oklahoma,; eleven grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Claude Savage of San Jacinto, California, George Savage of Tucson, Arizona, John Savage of Waco, Kentucky, and Frank Savage of Huntsville, Alabama; and three sisters, Dorothy Johnston of San Francisco, California, Betty Deck of Lancaster, California, and Maxine Casort of Green Valley, Arizona. Sis was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 2, 2004, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Pastor Mark Demas of the Neal United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Neal Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name for the Neal Community Building. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
