Clark Gilman Betten, of Fall River, died at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, on April 30, 2010, at the age of 91.
He was born in Boyden, Iowa, on January 14, 1919, the son of Robert and Margaret (Reimers) Betten. Clark was raised in Boyden and attended school there. He moved to Fall River, in the early 1950’s, and was united in marriage to Catherine Wood. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1992.
He worked as a self-employed livestock hauler for 20 years and as a contract mail carrier for 22 years. On July 8, 1995, Clark was united in marriage to Thedda (Soule) Olson in Eureka. They made their home in the Fall River community.
Clark is survived by his wife, Thedda, of the home; five children, Mara Cook of New Albany; Patty Robinson and Jill Harkrader both of Fredonia; Robert Betten of Fall River; and Richard Betten of Palo Alto, California; four stepchildren and their families, Karmey Olson, Kenny Olson, Keith Olson, and Kent Olson; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Menke of Sheldon, Iowa; and Dolores Kopp of St. Paul, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A viewing will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 3, 2010, at Koup Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Maureen Howard of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Charleston Cemetery, Fall River.
