Clarence V. “Pete” McDonald, of Climax, died at the Greenwood County Hospital on Monday, January 26, 2004, at the age of 65.
He was born near Eureka on November 17, 1938, the son of John N. and Cleta Mason (Mitchell) McDonald. He was raised in Greenwood County and attended Tonovay High School, graduating with the class of 1956. After his schooling he started his career as a heavy equipment operator.
On January 15, 1963, Pete was united in marriage to Sharon Mae Warren in Greenwood County. They made their home in Climax. The marriage later ended in divorce.
Pete was a heavy equipment operator in and around Greenwood County, ending his career as Superintendent of the Greenwood County Road and Bridge Department in 1996.
He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Eureka and the United Game Breeders Association.
He is survived by three sons, Clint McDonald of Climax and Joe McDonald of Eureka, and Rodney Rogers of Eureka, one daughter, Shaley Hertter of Marshall, Arkansas, six grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Jeannie Smith of West Virginia and Rebecca Tarver of Celina, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Sherry Lynn.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at the Koup Family Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery.
