Clarence Lee “Pete” Frakes, of Eureka, died on Friday, October 28, 2011, at his home in Eureka at the age of 84.

He was born on November 12, 1926, in Latham the second son of Lawrence Mason “Buck” and Aline (Moore) Frakes. He grew up in the Latham area and attended local schools. When he was 18 he was drafted into the United States Navy, where he served his entire service time on the battleship, U.S.S. New Jersey.

On August 15, 1947, Pete was united in marriage to Patsy R. Moon in Miami, Texas. They made their home in Latham until 1949, when they moved to Greenwood County where they lived all the following years of Pete’s life.

Pete worked as a dozer operator for Charlie Krug Dozer Service for years until he went into his own business in 1964. He also was hired out for ranch cowboying until he retired from doing ranch work around the age of 80.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy of the home; three daughters, Candy and husband, Raymond “Bud” Denner of Eureka; Cindy Frakes of Eureka; and Cathy and husband, Richard Stapleford of Eureka; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Talma Mailen of Beaumont; and one brother, Tommy Frakes of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, three sisters, and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Bryant Cemetery, Latham, Kansas with Chaplain Mark Somerville of Hospice Care of Kansas officiating. Visitation hours are from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Greenwood County Home Health or to Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
