Christine Eveline Hollingsworth died on January 7, 2004 in Waco, Texas following a short illness while visiting three daughters and their families.

Christine Eveline (Shoup) Hollingsworth, daughter of the late Charles and Cora Shoup, was born on November 27, 1912 in Udall, Kansas, where she grew up.

She graduated from Mulvane High School in 1940. She attended Kansas State Agriculture College, now Kansas State University, one year and then stayed home to work after her father had a serious accident. She later went a semester to Emporia Teachers College to receive a three year State Teachers Certificate. She taught one year in a rural school east of Derby, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Clarence A. Hollingsworth in 1934 at the Udall Methodist Church. To this union were born four daughters; Irene, Sharon, Ellen and Susie.

The Hollingsworth’s first resided in Overland Park, then Kingman, Fort Scott and Eureka, Kansas. Christine served as President of the Eureka Jr. High P.T.A. (being awarded a Lifetime State Membership), Bachelor Extension Homemakers Club, and the Eureka Sorosis Club.

She attended the Methodist Church all of her life and changed her membership to the town in which she resided, singing in the various church choirs.

Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Irene (Donald) Nixon of Kingsville, Texas, Sharon Werne of Waco, Texas, Mrs. Ellen (Paul) Drobnak of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Mrs. Susie (Jon) Hosford of Leesville, Louisiana; eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband C.A. (Holly) Hollingsworth, her parents, and all of her siblings, five brothers and five sisters. She is fondly remembered by her two sisters-in-law, plus numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been effected.

Memorial services will be held in the First United Methodist Church of Eureka later in the spring when traveling conditions improve. Notification of the services will be published in the Eureka Herald.

Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
