Charlotte “Louise” Yost, of Lawrence, formerly of Eureka, died on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the age of 88.
She was born in Wichita, Kansas on January 22, 1923, the daughter of William Herman and Mattie Rose (Love) Kerwin. She was raised in Wichita and Salina, Kansas as well as Colorado and Missouri. She graduated from high school in Longlane, Missouri, and received an associate’s degree from the Business College of Springfield, Missouri.
After her schooling Louise worked for the Wichita Fire Department before moving to Eureka to become Office Manager at the Greenwood County Extension office, a position she held until her retirement in 1979.
On July 8, 1951 Louise was united in marriage to James Henry Yost in Eureka, where they made their home. James preceded her in death on October 30, 2003.
She is survived by one daughter, Maggie Osborn of Lawrence, six grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Carolyn Winn, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Monday, May 16, 2011, at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Mr. Jayme Koup officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
