Charles Gordon Rowe, of Eureka, died on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 93.
He was born on October 30, 1916, in Caney, the son of Charles K. and Fannie (Miller) Rowe. He was raised in Caney and attended local schools. He began working for Sinclair\Prairie Pipeline Company when he was only 17.
On August 7, 1934, Charles was united in marriage to Beulah Pershall in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They made their home in Caney. During World War II, he worked in Venezuela, and the family lived in Caney, and later he was transferred to Eureka. Charles retired in 1978 from Arapahoe Pipeline Company. Beulah preceded him in death in 2007.
He is survived by one son, Ronald E. Rowe of Chanute; two daughters, Jaequelyn Wall of Emporia; and Mary Sue Winn of Wichita; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine L. King of Stafford. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Wayne.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 2, 2010, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Reverend Diana Hill of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Greenwood County Hospital or to Friendship Meals of Eureka. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
