Charles Duane Hand of Eureka, died on Monday, September 21, 2015, at his home in Eureka, at the age of 82.
He was born on August 9, 1933, in Wichita, the son of Don Sr., and Opal (Smith) Hand. He was raised in Wichita and in Texas. He attended Missouri Military Academy, the Citadel, and University of Kansas. On September 8, 1953, Charles was united in marriage to Teresa Ann Teichgraeber in Wichita. They made their home in Wichita. The family moved to Eureka in the early 1970’s and Charles began running lumberyards, concrete plants, and hardware stores in Kansas and Texas. In his early 50’s he opened an electrical wholesale supply house in Midland, Texas. Teresa preceded him in death on September 16, 2007.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Eureka.
He is survived by one son, Charles Lee Hand of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Tricia A. Hand of Eureka; and Lisa Bratton of Eureka; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Don Hand, Jr. of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Wesley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church in Eureka with Pastor Tim Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
