Charles Willis “Weige” Hall of Eureka, died on July 23, 2009, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka at the age of 95.
He was born on October 30, 1913 at the Hall Farm in rural Greenwood County started by his grandfathers in 1862, the son of Guy and Amelia (Willis) Hall. He was raised in the Bachelor Community in rural Greenwood County graduating from Tonovay High School. On February 24, 1935, Weige was united in marriage to Alpha Butler in Eureka. Their near 75 years of marriage was spent on the farm where Weige worked in farming, ranching and as a stockman.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a community leader of the Bachelor’s 4-H Club, County President of Farm Bureau, Chairman of the Greenwood County Republican Central Committee, Republican Precinct Committeeman for Bachelor Township, and a Tonovay school board member. Weige was proudest of being the secretary of Fidelity Lodge #106 for over 25 years and as a member of the lodge for 56 years.
He is survived by his wife, Alpha of the home; three sons, Allen and Ronald Hall of Eureka; and Charles Hall of Olivet; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma Marhenke of Andover. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Larry Hall.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 27, 2009, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Cross officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Fidelity Lodge #106. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
