Carl Andrew Mills of Hamilton, died on February 14, 2012 at his residence in Hamilton at the age of 77.
Carl was born on November 10, 1934, in Hamilton, the son of Pierce A. and Maude (Balson) Mills. He grew up in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School. After his schooling, he worked in the oil fields before joining the Army in 1957. He served his country with honor and dignity. After the Army Carl worked out west living in Colorado and Utah, eventually he went to work in oil fields in South America. Later he returned to Greenwood County working as a pipefitter, plumber, and owning a trucking business.
In 1964, Carl was united in marriage to Shirley Smith. In 1967, Carl was united in marriage to Betty Lazzers. These marriages ended in divorce.
Carl is survived by three sons, Dean Mills of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Travis Mills of Sandy, Utah; and James Mills of Hamilton; three step-daughters, Lisa Reece of Louisburg; Kristi Hunt of Olathe; and Rhonda Fernandez of Dodge City; three grandchildren, James A. Mills, Amanda Mills, and Ivy Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, two brothers, and step-daughter, Kori Alleman.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Janesville Cemetery, Hamilton, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Beau Arndt Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
