Dean Miles

Carl Dean Miles of Eureka, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Vintage Park in Eureka, at the age of 78.
He was born on May 19, 1942, in Eureka, the son of Lester Eugene and Florence May (Beedles) Miles. He was raised on a farm southwest of Eureka. He helped his father with calving from a young age and attended Farming rural school to eighth grade. He later attended Eureka High School, graduating with the Class of 1960. He started driving a truck in 1963. By the time he retired, he had been trucking for fifty years.
On November 18, 1967, Dean was united in marriage to Shirley Marie Broyles in Eureka. To this union, two children were born. They made their home in Eureka. Besides trucking, Dean worked with his father-in-law Gerald Broyles as a welder. He also drove for Becker & Sons and Prestige Tours. Later in life, he did a lot of work in music, doing a setup for Evans Sound Equipment and making his own gospel music with his band, Right Direction.
He became a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Eureka in 1989.
Dean is survived by his wife, Shirley of Eureka; nephews and nieces: Eddie Miles of Canton, Kansas; Harlen Makemson of Elon, North Carolina; and Diana Traylor of El Dorado. He was preceded in death by his children: Kevin Lee Miles, Lynette Marie Miles; and siblings: Warren Edward Miles and Betty Marie (Miles) Makemson.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 17, 2021, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Pastor Russell Judd of the Bible Baptist Church officiating. Masks should be worn and social distancing observed. Cremation has been effected. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.
