Brenda Darlene (Sherman) Lingo of Neal, died on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at her home in Neal, at the age of 68.
She was born on December 30, 1952, in Eureka, the daughter of Harry Ray and Mary Colleen (McCleary) Sherman. She was raised in the Eureka\Hamilton area and graduated from Eureka High School. On November 16, 1971, Brenda was united in marriage to Monty Lingo. To this union, four children were born. The family later made their home in Perryton, Texas. She lived in Perryton for over fifteen years before returning to Greenwood County. Brenda worked as a correctional officer at the El Dorado Correctional Facility, retiring in 2014.
She will be remembered by those who loved her as a devoted mother and grandmother, never missing a presentation or performance of any of her children. She loved to garden, cross stitch, and quilt, and loved fishing for catfish.
Brenda is survived by her children: Natasha Hilton of Topeka; Monica and husband, Justin Lucas of Cherokee, Oklahoma; Serena Lingo-Willard, and husband, Sage of Douglas, Oklahoma; and Christopher and wife, Shae Lingo of Perryton, Texas; eleven grandchildren: Michael Lucas, Garrett Sunday, Kaylie Lingo, Trevor Lucas, Brian Hilton, Tabitha Hilton, Hallie Lingo, Samantha Willard, Declyn Lucas, Emma Lingo, and Sawyer Willard; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Randy Sherman of Towanda. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, William “Bill” Grove; and one sister, Debbie Gamblian.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 9, 2021, at Janesville Cemetery, Hamilton, with Pastor Larry Evans of the Neal Evangelical Free Church officiating. Cremation has been effected.
