Beverly Joan Mock, formerly of Eureka, died on Friday, August 28, 2015, in Haysville, at the home of her daughter, at the age of 84.

She was born on October 25, 1930, in Ochelata, Oklahoma, the daughter of Albert Nelson and Erma LaVern (Rooker) Lyons. She was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1948. She continued her education in Emporia at Kansas State Teacher’s College. After graduation, she taught school at Ruweda. She later worked at Zenishek’s, and Sherar Williams.

On May 26, 1950, Beverly was united in marriage to David Earl Mock in Eureka, where they made their home. She worked at Home Bank & Trust until her retirement.

She was a lifetime Girl Scout leader. She and David started the annual Mother and Daughter weekend at Camp Wood in Elmdale; this year being the 30th anniversary. She was presented the Fanestil award in 1999 for exceptional service to the Flint Hills Girl Scouts Council. She volunteered for many years for the Girl Scouts, was a neighborhood chairperson, was a former member of the Board of Directors, and coordinated many council events.

She was an outdoor skills trainer, camp committee member, and held numerous other positions over the years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Eastwood Rebekah Lodge No. 557, Greenwood County Shrine Club Three Wheelers, the Eureka Jr. Sr. High School Booster Club, and a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Eureka. She also received the Meirerhoff Award and the Mock Family Award which are both high honors. She was former Eureka Businesswoman of the Month.

She is survived by son, Donald Mock of Emporia; daughter, Linda and husband, Paul Thompson of Haysville; four grandchildren: Lloyd, Stacie, Katie, and Kaila; and eight great-grandchildren: Kylen, Aceton, Kaden, Devyn, Logan, Landon, Jaden, and Jensen; one sister, Tillie Jacobs of Syracuse; and one brother-in-law, John and wife, Mary Ellen Mock of Eureka.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; and one brother, Nelson Lyons.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Reverend Kenneth Baker of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
