Betty J. Trembly, of Council Grove, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at the Morris County Hospital in Council Grove, at the age of 77.

She was born on February 13, 1927, in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of George and Viola May (Black) Wiggins. She was raised on the family farm northwest of Eureka, in the Holverson district, and attended school at Holverson and at Eureka High School. Betty graduated from Webster Groves High School in St Louis, Missouri, and then attended one semester at Emporia State University.

On April 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to A. H. Trembly Jr. in Eureka, Kansas. The marriage later ended in divorce. On November 14, 1951 she married H. A. “Pete” Holmes. They made their home in Eureka. She later moved to Brazil, Indiana. On June 6, 1969 she and A. H. Trembly remarried and made their home in Rockville, Ind. Her husband transferred to Brighton, Colorado where they lived until after he retired. In July 1986, they moved to the Council Grove Reservoir at Council Grove, Kansas.

Betty is survived by one brother; Charles Wiggins of rural Eureka, Kansas and two sisters; Helen Kiefer of Baldwin, Kansas and Dorothy Postlewait of Wheaton Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P. M., Friday, December 10, 2004 at the Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Morris County Hospital Foundation. Contributions may be sent to Koup Family Funeral Home, P. O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045, which is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
