Bettie Jean Church

Bettie Jean Church, of Eureka, died on Saturday, January 4, 2003, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita at the age of 74.
She was born on January 28, 1928, to Harry Daniel and Susie E. (Nugent) Thornton in Eureka. She was a lifetime resident of Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School. In her early years she worked at the College Inn restaurant on 7th street as a waitress. She was a homemaker.
Bettie is survived by a son, Michael Church of Eureka, a daughter, Kathy Hackney of Pomona, one brother, Jack Thornton of Eureka, one sister, Ruby O. Phillips of Wichita, and four grandchildren.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2003, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating.
A memorial has been established in her name with the Arthritis Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Cremation has been effected.
