Beth Edith Wright of Eureka, was called home on October 14, 2013 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover at the age of 84.

She was born in 1929 in Wonsevu, Kansas the daughter of William James and Ruth Elizabeth (Nicholson) Thompson. Beth grew up in the area and graduated Valedictorian with the class of 1947 from Cedar Point High School. After her schooling, she worked for KPL in Florence. On July 20, 1948 she was united in marriage to Glen Edward Wright in Wonsevu, Kansas. They moved to Eureka in 1952. She then worked for Mildred’s Café and later for the Zenishek’s as head bookkeeper. Beth then worked at the Eureka Federal Savings and Loan before retiring in 1993.
She was a member of the Christian & Congregational Church, the Garden Club, the Christian & Congregational Women’s Fellowship, the Greenwood County Hospital Auxiliary, the Blood Bank, the Greenwood County Election Board, the Draft Board, and was Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She played piano for the Christian & Congregational Church, the Christian & Congregational Women’s Fellowship, the nursing home in Eureka, Gran Villas, and sang in the church choir. Her favorite song was Amazing Grace.

Beth is survived by her daughter, Patricia and husband, Scott Higbee of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Alycia and husband, Mike Holston of Helena, Montana; Jennifer and husband, Tim Vought of Dakota City, Iowa; Karissa and husband, Scott Bouchie of Clovis, California; and Andrew and wife, Katy Higbee of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; seven great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn & Tyler Vought, Cameron, Lauren, & Madelyn Holston, Preston Bouchie, and Bailey Higbee; sister, Shirley Sprague of Eureka; one sister-in-law, Joan Thompson; and two nephews, Col. Wayne Thompson (Ret.), and Gary Sprague. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one great-grandchild, Trenton Higbee; and one brother, Dean Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Christian & Congregational Church with Reverend Rhonda Almond officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Koup Family Funeral Home was in charge of service arrangements.
