Arlie Eugene Chastain of El Dorado, Kansas, died Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, at the age of 88.

He was born July 5, 1929, in Madison, the son of Frank and Ethel Chastain. The family moved to Eureka and he attended local schools. Following his schooling, Arlie went to work as a heavy equipment operator in road construction. He later began working as a mechanic for Teichgraeber Oil. On March 22, 1948, he was united in marriage to Margret Joice Call, in Bentonville, Arkansas. To this marriage four children were born. The family made their home in Eureka, where Arlie loved to fish. He was known as a hard worker and a good provider for his family. In 2009, they retired to El Dorado. Margret preceded him in death on June 14, 2017.

Arlie is survived by one son, Clifford E. Chastain of El Dorado; one daughter, Cathy Chastain of Eureka; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clyde Chastain of Kansas City, Kansas; Everett Chastain of Howard, Kansas; and Irl Chastain of Eureka, Kansas; and two sisters: Gladys Morris of Fredonia, Kansas; and Virginia Jones of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margret; two sons: Clinton and Calvin; and one sister, Mary Lou Carroll.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, with Pastor Bobby Allen of the First Baptist Church of Eureka, officiating. Visitation hours have been set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Koup Family Funeral Home.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Arlie Chastain Memorial Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045, which is overseeing arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at koupfunerals.com.
