Arlene J. Demous
Arlene Jane Demous, formerly of Eureka, died on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Pleasant View Home, in Inman, Kansas, at the age of 86.
She was born on October 19, 1927, in Selman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Golden Eugene and Ollie Bell (Swank) Bierd. She spent her early years in Selman, and Adair County, Oklahoma. When Arlene was 16, the family moved to Pittsburg, Kansas. Arlene graduated from Pittsburg High School. On January 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ollie Henry Demous in Pittsburg, Kansas. The family made their home in Manhattan, and moved to Eureka in 1949.
Arlene was a member of the Christian Church of Eureka, and a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Ollie Demous, Jr. of Denton, Texas; three daughters, Sandra Brown of Omaha, Nebraska; Linda Bolton of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Mary McBeath of McPherson; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, JoAnn Harrison of Stilwell, Kansas; and one brother, Max Bierd of Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka, Kansas with Reverend Kenneth Baker of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
