Anna Mae (Casteel) Gant, of Eureka, died early Tuesday morning, September 13, 2005, at Medicalodge of Eureka, at the age of 96.
She was born on September 16, 1908, at Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Hiram Andrew and Lindy Francis (Tincher) Casteel. She lost her parents while she was still in grade school, and was raised by relatives in Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
She married Truman Edward Gant on July 12, 1931, at Slick, Oklahoma. They made their home in Oklahoma until 1942, when they moved to Wichita, following the start of World War II. She moved to Eureka with her family in 1945, where she continued her life as a faithful wife and mother. She was a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband on February 9, 1998, and by her son, Richard, on August 6, 1991. She is survived by two sons, Donald of Odessa, Texas; and Ronald of Eureka; two daughters, Marian Scott of Oxford; and Barbara Marrs of Eureka; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 16, 2005 at Jefferson Street Baptist Church in Eureka with Pastor Alan Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
