Anita Elouise Long, of Virgil, died on Sunday, July 3, 2005 at Newman Regional Health, in Emporia, at the age of 87.

She was born on November 27, 1917, in Nevada, Missouri, the daughter of Lee Roy James and Minnie Mable (Stark) Braxdale.

On August 23, 1948, she was united in marriage to Delbert O. Long in Fredonia. In 1959, the family moved to rural Greenwood County and to Virgil, in 1976.

Anita was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Moline, Kansas, and had attended the Lamont church for many years. She is survived by one stepdaughter, Joann Jones of Dickinson, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, James D. Long; one daughter, Louise Wunderlich; one granddaughter; and one grandson.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Number 8 Cemetery, in Madison with Pastor Steve McVey of the Lamont Wesley Church officiating.
