Allie Wayman-Kent, 97, died Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at her home in Eureka, Kansas.

She was born September 20, 1908, at Marshfield, Missouri, the daughter of Elbert and Josie Triplett. Allie attended schools in Fairfax, Oklahoma, graduating in 1927. Her senior year was a very special one and noted in Oklahoma history. Allie and her twin sister Hallie played on the Fairfax Girls Basketball team winning enough games to become the Oklahoma State Champions making the team eligible to play at the Nationals in Chicago, which they also won, returning back home to Fairfax as sports heroes. Because of this story, and the fact of twin girl basketball players with the last name of Triplett, it is recorded in “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” about the girls, and “how could twins be triplets”?

She was united in marriage to Monroe Wayman on December 24, 1927, at Fairfax, Oklahoma. They lived many places during their 36 ½ years of marriage, moving where ever Monroe’s job in the Oil business required them to be. To this union were born two daughters, Jo Davidson and Barbara Stage.

Monroe died June 25, 1964 at Fairfax, Oklahoma.

Allie moved from Fairfax, Oklahoma to Eureka, Kansas in 1972 to be near her devoted and care-giving family, Jo Davidson and her husband Bee; (per Allie’s own words, “Bee is my son I didn’t have to give birth to”.)

On January 4, 1976, she married Cecil Kent, of Eureka. Cecil died August 16, 1980.

Allie never held a high paying job but she treasured having the most important job in the world, that being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She joyfully devoted her entire life to her family, and simply loved people of all ages with children high on her list!

She was a member of The First Baptist Church in Fairfax, Oklahoma, for 70 years. After moving to Eureka, Allie attended First United Methodist Church with her family, as long as health permitted. The Golden Age Club was a highlight during her years in Eureka. Dancing the waltz was her favorite, and never seemed to tire from it. Her attendance to the club was regular until a stroke in 1998 required the use of a wheel chair. Allie’s favorite pass times were singing, reading, keeping up on modern events and visiting with friends and family.

Allie was liked by everyone who knew her. Her witty humor and sharp mind was second to none! If someone could not remember something about the past, you could always hear the words “Ask Allie, she will know…”and sure enough she always did. She enjoyed the daily phone visits with her close friends up to, and including, the evening before her death. God answered the prayers to take her home without suffering and pain, and did just that during her night of restful sleep. What a joy she was to all her family and friends during her 97 years of life. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten!!

She is survived by her two daughters, Jo Davidson and her husband Bee of Eureka, Ks, and Barbara Stage and husband Dale, of Lakeland, Florida.

3 Grandchildren; Vicki Davidson-Larson, Dayla Stage-Kirkpatrick and Darren Stage.

8 Great-Grandchildren; Jared and Kyle Larson, Codie, Kelli, and Alex Kirkpatrick, Chelsea, Brandon and Brandy Stage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Monroe and Cecil, her twin sister Hallie Morris on March 18, 2001, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. on November 7, 2005 at the Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka. Pastor Diana Hill of First Methodist Church of Eureka officiated. Interment followed in Fairfax City Cemetery at Fairfax, Oklahoma.

A memorial has been established in her name with The Shriners Crippled Children Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Ks. 67045
