Alberta L. Bane
Alberta Leora Bane of Eureka, died on Monday, March 23, 2015 at her home in Eureka at the age of 95.
She was born on September 20, 1919 in Bazine, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Lillie A. (Borger) Margheim. She was raised in Ness County and attended local schools. On August 14, 1938, Alberta was united in marriage to Joseph Roy Evans, Jr. They made their home in Ness County. To this union three children were born. The family later moved to Emporia. While in Emporia, Alberta ran a day care center for several years. During World War II she worked at an ammunition plant in Colorado. Joseph preceded her in death in December 1976.
On May 19, 1980 Alberta was united in marriage to Jesse Bane in Emporia. They made their home in Eureka. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1997.
She was a member of the Lioness Club, was a Grand Champion Quilter of the Greenwood County fair and won many awards for her quilting and handiwork.
She is survived by three children: June LeRoy of Eureka; Nancy Bynes of Vallejo, California; Jeff Evans of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Shawn LeRoy, Amy Hopkins, Ezra Evans, Robyn Bynes, and Spencer Evans; and five great grandchildren: Adam, Paul and Gracie Hopkins, and Aaron and William Chin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother, Lawrence Margheim, and sister, Violet Purcell.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 30, 2015 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Pastor Mark Hopkins of the Hurt Pentecostal Holiness Church of Hurt, Virginia officiating. Interment will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Great Bend City Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home. Koup Family Funeral Home was in charge of service arrangements.
