Alan K. “Shag” Rawlings of Hamilton, Kansas died on April 12, 2006, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 70.
Shag was born on November 26, 1935, in Eureka, Kansas the son of Charles Kenneth and Audrey (Smith) Rawlings. He was raised in Madison, Kansas and graduated from Madison High School. After high school he started his own business Rawlings Dozer Service doing heavy equipment operations. In 1981, he started a second business Rawlings General Repair where he welded, was a machinist, electrician and all around general contractor.
Shag liked to play pool, darts, fishing and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #196 and was a Mason of the 32nd degree.
He is survived by his son, Greg Rawlings of Madison; three daughters, Teresa Rice of Madison, Beth Dains Pees of Madison; and Cindy Nichols of Ellinwood; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one uncle Raymond Rawlings.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton, Kansas, with Pastor Mark Demas of the United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka. Graveside viewing will be 9:30 – 10:00 A.M. at Janesville Cemetery.
