Aaron Richard Fechter of Eureka, died on May 11, 2008, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia at the age of 89.
Aaron was born on October 12, 1918, in Hilltop, Kansas, the son of Henry and Anna (Dreyer) Fechter. He attended local schools before joining the Army during WWII serving his country with honor and dignity. After he left the Army he worked on local farms and ranches. He started his own ranch which he worked until retiring in 1994.
On June 1, 1960, he married Henrietta Chambers in Eureka, where they made their home. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2007.
He is survived by his son, Richard Fechter of Howard, Kansas; daughter Jayne Schaefer of Richmond, Kansas; four grandchildren; brother, George Fechter of Emporia, Kansas; and sister, Goldie Beck of Quincy, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 16, 2008, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Demas of the Hamilton United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Janesville Cemetery, Hamilton, Kansas.
Memorials have been established in his name to Newman Regional Health and to Greenwood County 4H Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
