Norman Grundy of Eureka, died on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Ascension St. Francis Hospital, in Wichita, at the age of 77.
He was born on August 13, 1946, in El Dorado, Kansas, the son of Herschell Ledger and Norma Olive (Denner) Grundy. He was raised in Climax and attended Severy schools, graduating from Severy High School. He later attended Emporia State University.
On July 19, 1969, Norman was united in marriage to Sue Ann Ervin. To this union, two children were born: Lisa and Daniel. Norman managed the Severy Co-Op before purchasing S&N Propane in Big Cabin, Oklahoma. Later they purchased the Bluestem Lodge and he helped operate it until his retirement in 2003. Sue preceded him in death on November 11, 2002.
On September 20, 2003, Norman was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Diane” (Bailey) Snyder in Jemez Springs, New Mexico.
Norman attended the Methodist Church. Norman enjoyed traveling but especially he liked boating. Spending time on a lake somewhere was one of his greatest pleasures. Norman was also a rancher. His working life came second to his cattle.
He is survived by his wife, Diane of the home; children, Lisa Grundy of Emporia; and Daniel Grundy of Columbus; three step-children: Cody Vance of San Antonio, Texas; Kimberly Roth of Cañon City, Colorado; and Jason Vance of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nine grandchildren; and two siblings: Jeleane Osborn of Wichita; and Ronnie Grundy of Eureka.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Kevin Lawrence of the Climax United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation has been effected.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Columbus Junior Senior High School (to be used for the Grundy Family Scholarship Fund).
