Nancy Lee Gilmore of Eureka, died on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 73.
She was born on July 23, 1950, in Evanston, Illinois, the daughter of William and Irene (Wich) Kroschel. She was raised in Mount Prospect, Illinois, attending local schools. After her schooling, she worked for the Keebler Company.
On June 26, 1971, Nancy was united in marriage to William Ray “Bill” Gilmore in Palatine, Illinois. To this union, one son was born. The family moved to Eureka in 1988. Nancy was a correctional officer at El Dorado until her health forced her to retire in the mid 2010’s. Bill preceded her in death on September 25, 2010.
She was a member of the Sandwich Club Quilters in El Dorado.
Nancy is survived by her son, Joe Gilmore of Hutchinson; four grandchildren: Skylar Brown, Arika Gilmore, Alyssa Gilmore, and Alexis Gilmore; one great-grandchild on the way; and three siblings: Karen Wilton of Birnamwood, Wisconsin; Bill Kroschel of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; and Irene Beese of Streamwood, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka. Cremation has been effected. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
