Harold Louis Hosler of Eureka, died on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka, at the age of 95.

He was born June 22, 1928, on a farm near Fall River, the son of Albert J. and Juanita B. (Brooks) Hosler. He attended local schools. Harold spent his entire life in Greenwood County as a farmer and rancher. Preservation of the land and wildlife was of utmost importance to him. He believed that we have been provided with these gifts to hand on to future generations.

On June 25, 1984, Harold was united in marriage to his best friend, Ethel Butler. Together they shared their mutual interests in farming and handling cattle, as well as traveling. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2006.

Harold was a member of the Christian & Congregational Church, Masonic Lodge Fidelity 108, Greenwood County Midian Shrine, Greenwood County Midian Shrine 3-wheelers, and Cattlemen’s Association.

He leaves behind two brothers: Vern Hosler of El Dorado, Kansas; and Daryl and wife, Sharon Hosler of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; one sister, Sue Bitler of Eureka, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved Ethel; two brothers: Gerald Hosler and Francis “Bud” Hosler; two sisters: Wilma Edwards and Clara Newkirk.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Christian & Congregational Church, Eureka with Pastor Dan Buck officiating. Cremation has been effected. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or to the Eureka Nursing Center Activity Fund.
